Francescon is the creator of the Perla Nera Consortium

Francescon is the creator of the "Perla Nera" project, and together with Peviani Spa and OP La Mongolfiera by Fratelli Giardina group, other leading companies in the fruit and vegetable sector as Francescon, they have the aim of making known and appreciating the “perla nera” [black pearl] watermelon. The consortium dedicates 400 hectares of land to the production of “perla nera” watermelon, between Sicily, Basilicata, Puglia, Sardinia, Emilia-Romagna and Mantua, and works in several conditioning centres.
The characteristics of this watermelon of about 4-6 kg are a dark skin, crispness of the pulp, a very particular aroma, few seeds, high brix degrees (the value that represents the degree of sugar in a fruit) and high digestibility. It is therefore a fruit with higher quality standards compared to other products that can be found on the market.
